DNA tests reveal ethnicity, not nationality. Nationality refers to the country of citizenship including the status of belonging to a particular nation by origin, birth or naturalization. Ethnicity refers to a person’s identity in relation to a particular social, cultural or religious group. Nations may change because of war, boundary changes, or reunification. Ethnicity remains reflected in your genes no matter how many nationality changes you may experience.
