The Case for Banned Books and the Fear Factor
Banned Books Week was launched in 1982 in response to a sudden surge in the number of challenges to books in schools, bookstores and libraries. A review of the history of banned books and censorship will lay the groundwork for a discussion on current trends affecting First Amendment rights and freedom to read, and open access to information. Presented by Colorado Association of Libraries Intellectual Freedom Committee co-chairs Miranda Doran-Myers and Dodie Owens. Sponsored by Front Range Community College.
